I suppose it’s never a good idea to lend money to a friend, but when a friend is in dire need, it’s hard to say no. I have a friend who is having financial trouble. He is currently out of work, and he called me last night to ask if I would lend him a large sum of money that he could invest in a new business venture. He assured me that this was a solid deal, and I could expect to get my money back with interest in a few weeks.
Now, if this friend couldn’t pay his rent, and was about to be booted from his apartment, or if he had no money to buy food, I wouldn’t hesitate a second to dole out the cash. But I’m not so sure how I feel about depleting my entire life savings on his business speculations, and certainly not before getting the inside scoop from my trusted Lenormand oracle cards.
One of the things I love best about the Lenormand cards is that they are so good for delving into other people’s intentions and motivations. I need to know if my friend is trustworthy. Can I trust this friend to pay back the money I lend him?
Oh, brother! I don’t like the looks of this reading at all. I chose card 28, the Gentleman, to represent my friend. The Tree represents my friend’s health and spirituality, and Clouds shows trouble and instability. Clouds usually affects the mind, so these cards tell me that my friend has not been in a healthy frame of mind lately. The House next to the Clouds tells me that he’s been having troubles at home. This does not surprise me because I already know he is having problems with his live-in girlfriend.
The snake is warning of betrayal. At best it says that my friend’s problems are not going to get any better in the near future, and at worst it shows that he is manipulative and untrustworthy. The moon represents fantasy and illusion, and next to the Snake it confirms the lies and deceit. Bear shows that the lies are in connection with money; the money he hopes to borrow from me!
I’m left wondering if my friend is being completely truthful about why he needs the money. Both the Clouds and the Moon can point to drugs use, and because the Snake can bring a criminal element into the mix, I’m worried that this business venture may not be completely legitimate.
Either way, these cards provide a clear warning that I shouldn’t trust this friend with my life savings. Last night I told my friend that I would try to scrape up the money he needs, and then get back to him. Tonight I’ll call to let him know that I was unable to secure the funds. Sorry.
