Daily Card Draw – The Garden + The Coffin

January 11, 2008 by Art of Cartomancy

This morning I drew The Garden and The Coffin. The Garden represents social activity, the public arena, parties or get-togethers. The Coffin indicates an ending, illness, death, or a major life change. I’m not sure what this combination means, but I do know for sure that I don’t like it one bit. Perhaps a social event will be cancelled? Could this indicate a gather of people for a funeral? Jeez, I hope it’s not mine, or for my brother who’s been having some health issues.

Another idea just occurred to me. The Garden represents a public place, and The Coffin can represent illness, so instead of a funeral, maybe this combination refers to ‘a hospital?’ Still not good news, but at least I don’t need to worry about digging up a black suit.

Oh! I guess my intuition finally kicked in, and another much less somber interpretation just hit me. I tend to be a bit anti-social, so perhaps this card combination represents my sense of physical and emotional detachment from other people.

I’ve been cruising the Net looking for other possible interpretations for this combination, and everything I’ve found supports what I’ve already considered. I did find that the Coffin can also indicate a scare, fright or shock, so maybe something will happen today in the world that will shock or frighten me….we shall see.

    Garden+Coffin (in that order?)
Maybe “Support system” might make more sense? Wonder what you were thinking of when you drew the cards. Maybe an underlying concern about your brother? and the cards were reassuring you that ‘help’ was in place & available…..

    Seems likely in retrospect 🙂

    Hi Bee,

It’s funny that you would mention a connection between these cards and my brother’s health crisis. The following day I did a ‘No layout’ on him, and these same two cards appeared in his reading. The order of the two cards was reversed, but I couldn’t help but think the two readings are somehow related. So I think you’re right that these cards were reassuring me.

    Thank you,
